Flavio Correa - Band leader/percussion
Band leader, Flavio Correa, is a Cuban percussionist and singer based in London. He grew up in Centro Havana in a neighbourhood surrounded by musical giants like Chucho Valdes, Joseito Fernandez, composer of world famous 'Guantanamera' and Lazaro Herrera, trumpet player with Septeto Nacional. Flavio specialises in latin percussion and afro-Cuban drumming, Cuban rumba and afro-cuban folkloric music. He has composed music for and appeared in the BBC production of ‘The Hour’ starring Dominic West and Ben Wishaw, and ITV’s ‘Auf Weidersehen, Pet’.
He is the bongosero and backing vocalist in 20 piece big band, The New Regency Orchestra, currently plays with internationally renowned violinist, Omar Puente, and is part of the latin Jazz ensemble, The Mantecas.
Caroline Loftus - Singer
Australian born, with London now her home and inspiration, Caroline Loftus enjoys an amazing musical career that has taken her around the globe. Caroline has performed internationally with many artists, from duo to big band, with her style ranging from acoustic jazz to retro swing, latin and lounge. Offered her first record deal in Sydney at the tender age of 20, she has since released four solo albums, and has featured on many recordings for pop artists, film soundtracks and dance compilations.
As a songwriter, Caroline has a wealth of originals featured on her own albums, from swing classics to haunting ballads, as well as writing material for pop, dance and TV productions, notably the U.S. series 'Charmed' and the BBC drama 'The Hour'.
Javier Fioramonti - Bass
Hailing from Santa Fe, Argentina, Javier Fioramonti, is a talented multi instrumentalist, composer and producer. Since moving to London he has become one of the most sought after players on the latin scene. As well as his own projects such as The Mantecas, Javier has worked with well known UK artists, Roberto Pla's Latin Jazz Ensemble and Alex Wilson Salsa Orquestra. He has accompanied many visiting international salsa artists such as Joe Battan and Maelo Ruiz, to name a few. Javier regularly composes for film and TV.
David Oliver - Piano
Dazzling, dynamic and distinguished are just a few words that describe the talented piano player David Oliver. With a colourful, committed approach, adaptable technique and a proficiency and desire to improvise both wisely and creatively, he can embrace a range of musical scenes from the most Caliente of sweaty salsa bars to the jovial 50’s swing and cocktail jazz. In his early days, learning scales and classic repertoires from the age of seven – under careful guidance from parents and a sound musical education – he began developing his own unique style finding inspiration from musicians such as Scott Joplin, George Shearing and Oscar Peterson to name but a few.
Victor Hechavarria - Trumpet
Victor Hechavarria was born in Santiago de Cuba, “The jewel of the East”. Upon graduating from The Conservatory Esteban Salas he taught music in Guantanamo’s Art School and was much sought after on Santiago’s thriving music scene. In 2009, Victor left Cuba to tour Europe with the stage show “Havana Rumba” and after two years on the road he settled in London. His first year in London was as part of Septeto Contemporaneo, the resident house band at Floridita London. He now features with Caroline & F.R.E.D. The Congo Faith Healers, Hot Orange Big Band, The Sugar Kings, Omar Puente y Raices Cubanas.
David Pattman - Timbales
David Pattman has been working in Latin music for more than 30 years. A founder member of El Sonido de Londres, La Clave and the Roberto Pla Latin Ensemble, he has gone on to play with countless London bands.
He has also toured and recorded with many international artists such as Cubanismo, Cachaito Lopez and Omara Portuondo of the Buena Vista Social Club, Paul McCartney, Snowboy and Alex Wilson.
